M. Welte & Sons 1920 Price List

Price list of Welte Piano and Concert Orchestrions.

Figure 56. The price for a classic Welte Orchestrion had always been expensive, limiting sales to wealthy patrons, especially so for the mid-sized to largest instruments. The various Welte catalogue pages always included the price of an instrument, but it could be overridden with an updated price list inserted into a catalogue. The above M. Welte & Sons price list (for an American audience) shows an increase in prices as of 1920. Note that the larger orchestrions are still listed, although quite obsolete by 1920, when the smaller piano orchestrions became more popular due to their modern cabinetry and relatively small size and cost.
