Early Style H and J Solo Valve System

The above pictured early solo mechanism was used in styles H and J orchestrions, from the first examples until about 1917. The primary valves are in the black box mounted on the front of the stack, just above the keys. The small pneumatic at the right end of the chest turns the primaries on and off. The box above the primary chest is the separate master valve chest, as explained in the text. This example is Seeburg J #8,640, made in 1913.
