Herbert and Nellie Vincent in 1915, standing alongside their
brand new Saxon automobile. This was the first automobile for
Herbert and Nellie, and it was her first experience with a motor
car, transportation previously being by horse and buggy. Made by
the Saxon Motor Car Company, of Detroit, Michigan, electric
lighting was added as a standard fitting in 1915. The house in
the background was that of Herbert's brother, Melvin Vincent,
who lived in Alberhill, California (near Lake Elsinore).
As an interesting side note: It is unknown whether Herbert
Vincent had owned or used an automobile before the above
pictured Saxon, but he did at one point have a horse, and had a
"silver rib" due to an injury received when he was kicked by his
horse.
