The 15-note accompaniment and 25-note melody pipework in the Helios III/39 Orchestrion.

Accompaniment Pipework in the Hupfeld Helios III/39 Orchestrion. The four pipe ranks making up the 15-note accompaniment pipework section consisting of (front to back) Aeoline (soft violin), Viola, Gedeckt (stopped flute) and Posaune (loud Wood Violoncello) are at the left of the dividing wind-pressure reservoir. The seven 25-note Melodie Violin pipework voices located on the right side are (front to back) Clarinet, Loud Violin, Stopped Flute, Piccolo, Open Flute, Aeoline (soft violin) and Posaune (horn/trumpet). Only the metal Clarinet and Posaune ranks are clearly visible. The 25-note xylophone is partially visible in the upper right hand portion of the picture.

Melodie Pipework in the Hupfeld Helios III/39 Orchestrion. The seven 25-note Melodie Violin pipework voices are shown here looking in from the right hand side of the main chassis (with the right-hand side-wing removed). The pipe ranks are (front/left to rear/right) metal Clarinet, Loud Violin (a compound rank consisting of two nearly identical wooden violin ranks), Gedeckt (stopped flute), Piccolo, Flöte (open flute), Aeoline (soft violin) and metal Posaune (horn/trumpet).

The 25-note xylophone is partially visible at the upper right. The crash cymbal lies horizontally at the top center of the instrument, directly above the Melodie Violin pipework, with part of the cymbal's rim barely visible at the top center of the photograph.

Bass Pipework in the Hupfeld Helios III/39 Orchestrion. The three large scale 12-note bass pipe ranks located in the left-hand side-wing, as viewed from the left-hand side on the instrument (with the outer side-wing access panels removed). The three ranks are (front/left to rear/right) bass posaune (tapered wood horn/trombone), bass violoncello (wood) and bass viola (wood).

The opposite side-wing (not pictured) contains the orchestra bells, snare drum, bass drum and the cymbal striker assembly (the actual crash cymbal is located in the main chassis).
