Catalogue Illustration of a Philipps
Pianella Modell "Pfau" Orchestrion
(Wurlitzer Style 47 Mandolin PianOrchestra)

Circa 1908 catalogue illustration of a Philipps Model Pfau Pianella.

Catalogue illustration circa 1908. This "Pfau" is thought to be an early version (circa 1908) of what was later to be listed in the circa 1910 Philipps catalogue as a Pianella Model 47. It was repackaged in a new and sleek looking case, with modernistic styling. Both the Pianella Pfau and the Model 47 essentially have identical lighting effects, only the subject of the animated scene is different, and both have approximately the same musical instrumentation.

Philipps sometimes advertised the Pianella instruments by name, such as the "Pfau," while other times by model number.
