The above letter from Walter Knott (of Knott's Berry Farm), dated May 24, 1965, was mailed to my uncle, Richard F. (Dick) Hathaway in response to a telephone call by him on my behalf regarding the Wurlitzer Style 29-C Mandolin PianOrchestra in Knott's possession and the possibility of it being available for purchase. However, the letter was disappointing in that the PianOrchestra was not for sale. Only the first paragraph deals with the PianOrchestra question, with all other paragraphs relating to personal matters between Walter Knott and my uncle, Dick Hathaway. |

Page 2 of the Walter Knott letter, dated May 24, 1965. From some of Mr. Knott's comments it should be obvious that he was a staunchly patriotic person, a characteristic for which he was widely recognized, and a person who strived to preserve the ideals of the nation's founding fathers. Mr. Knott passed away in 1981, and the Style 29-C PianOrchestra was still on display in the Ghost Town Museum. |
