Changing music rolls and operating the huge Welte was done through a pair of small music roll access doors. These somewhat inconspicuous looking doors were located in the main entry hall.

With the hallway service access door open, it is easy to see how tightly the Welte fits into the confines of its own small chamber. The huge machine could be rolled out of this tight enclosure for servicing and tuning, except that the mechanism for moving it failed soon after its installation. Thus, the Welte remained safely ensconced and away from prying hands.
