The Engelhardt Model B, C, and D orchestrions. Introduced in the summer of 1917, these orchestrions all played 20,000 Series rewind “O” rolls. And all three made use of the same style all-purpose case, consisting of an upright piano with a tall case extension. Above the keyboard are three scenic art glass panels, the center one larger, and each with a domed but separately made art-glass decorative top piece. The fallboard of each displayed an “Engelhardt” decal. Instrumentation, other than the obvious piano, is unknown. However, taking into account the capabilities of the style “O” music rolls it is likely that they these three similar models may have utilized some mix of piano, mandolin attachment, a rank of violin and/or flute pipes, snare drum, bass drum, cymbal, and possibly other trapwork supported by the music roll. |
