* Johann Ev. Perme (who, by 1913, was generally known in Leadville, Colorado, as John Bernat) had many brothers and sisters, but as shown by the death rates in the above table, most of them died at a very young age. Then when his two surviving younger brothers were shot dead sometime after immigrating to the U.S., only three of Bartholomaeus and Maria (Stermole) Perme's eleven children remained alive -- Johann, and two sisters, Marjeta and Marija. Both of his sisters remained in Slovenia, and inherited their parent's estate. |
